Gonda: Hundreds of residents took a pledge to conserve groundwater and promote sustainable water use during a public awareness programme organised as part of Groundwater Week in Gonda district.
The campaign was jointly organised by the Pani Sansthan and the Groundwater Department at Mujehna and Pandri Kripal development blocks, with the aim of encouraging community participation in water conservation and ensuring water security for future generations.
During the programme, Rajeev Mishra of Pani Sansthan administered the groundwater conservation pledge to participants. He highlighted the alarming decline in groundwater levels and stressed that every citizen has a responsibility to use water judiciously, promote rainwater harvesting and spread awareness about the importance of conserving water resources.
Mishra urged people to transform water conservation into a mass movement, saying collective action is essential to safeguard groundwater and ensure the availability of clean water for future generations.
Participants also pledged to adopt water-saving practices in their daily lives and encourage others in their communities to contribute to groundwater conservation efforts.
The awareness programme witnessed the participation of a large number of local residents, including Chanchal, Ramashankar, Mohit, Sudhanshu, Pawan, Virendra, Akanksha, Pooja, Alok and Rita, who reaffirmed their commitment to protecting precious water resources.
